According to the "Hindustan Times" report, as of September 5, India has a total of 4 million confirmed cases, reaching 4,023,179, an increase of 86,432 compared to the confirmed cases announced the day before. According to other media reports, in the past 10 days, the average number of new cases per day in India exceeded 73,000, the average number of new cases in the past 5 days exceeded 75,000, and the average number of new cases in the past 3 days exceeded 80,000.

According to reports, the number of newly diagnosed cases in a single day in India has remained the world's largest in the past month. The cumulative number of confirmed cases exceeded 3 million on August 23 to 4 million on September 5 in just 13 days. Compared with the 16 days used for the last 1 million cases, the spread of the epidemic is still accelerating.

Indian experts said that next week, India may surpass Brazil to become the second country in the world in terms of cumulative number of confirmed cases. In addition, Agowal, the former head of the Indian Medical Association, said in an interview with Indian media at the end of August that if the current trend continues, India will surpass the United States within six weeks and become the country with the worst epidemic in the world.
