US President Trump said on the 9th local time that he will announce on the 10th a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imported into the United States.

According to Reuters, US President Trump said on the 9th local time that he will announce on the 10th a 25% tariff on all steel and aluminum imported into the United States. This new tariff will be superimposed on the existing metal tariffs, marking another "major escalation" of Trump's trade policy reform.

Trump said that he will also announce large-scale new reciprocal tariffs on the 11th or 12th, that is, to impose tariffs of the same amount imposed by other countries on US goods.
It is understood that Trump imposed a 25% tariff on steel entering the United States and a 10% tariff on aluminum entering the United States during his first term, but later gave duty-free quotas to several trading partners such as Canada, Mexico, the European Union and the United Kingdom.
According to data from the US government and the American International Steel Association, the largest steel importers in the United States are Canada, Brazil and Mexico, followed by South Korea and Vietnam.
German Chancellor Scholz said on the 9th that if the United States imposes tariffs on the European Union, Europe is ready to respond quickly. He said on the 4th that regarding the possible US imposition of tariffs on European steel, Europe needs to cooperate in the steel industry to protect the European steel industry.
