According to the Egyptian Customs Act 207/2020 that came into effect in November 2020, Advance Cargo Information (ACI) will take effect on July 1, 2021 for all goods imported into Egypt. Importers must declare and obtain customs approval before the goods are shipped, and provide ACID-related information to the exporter.
Therefore, the following three information must be provided through Shipping Instruction 48 hours before the port of departure:
1) Shipper Identification Number (3 segments with unique format, example US-02-1208614364)
Tips: the value should include country code as well as identification type and number as follow – Two letter code (ISO-3166-1) representing the country where the exporter (shipper) is registered;
Two digits identifying the type of identification number (01-Company Registry; 02-VAT);
The exporter identification number issued by the relevant authority.
2) Importer Tax Registration Number (9 digits)
3) Unique ACID Number (19 digits)
If the relevant information cannot be provided within the time specified above, the goods will not be shipped smoothly, and the risks and expenses arising therefrom will be borne by the shipper.
