According to the latest news released by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan on the 3rd, a total of 5 companies, including Toyota, Mazda, Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki, have violated regulations in vehicle performance testing.

Previously, after the data fraud scandal of Daihatsu Industries, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Toyota, was exposed, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan required 85 companies in the Japanese automobile industry to self-check whether there were similar situations. Toyota and other 5 companies were found to have violated regulations during the internal investigation.

The published investigation results show that Toyota has 3 models that are still in production, and there are behaviors such as data fraud in pedestrian protection tests; 4 models that have been discontinued have violations such as processing test vehicles in vehicle collision tests. According to relevant Japanese laws, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan will conduct on-site inspections of these 5 companies as early as the 4th. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan said that the violations of these car companies have damaged user trust and the automobile certification system.

At present, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan has required 3 Toyota cars, 2 Mazda cars and 1 Yamaha motorcycle that have violated regulations to suspend shipments.

On the same day, senior executives of Toyota, Honda and Mazda held press conferences to apologize for the incident.

On the same day, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi criticized at a press conference on the 3rd, "This has damaged the credibility of our country's automobile industry."

According to reports, in response to the fraud of Japanese automakers, Yoshimasa Hayashi said, "This has damaged the credibility of our country's automobile industry and shaken the foundation of the automobile certification system. I regret this." He also asked the relevant automakers to explain the situation to consumers seriously, and said that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan will "seriously deal with" the matter based on the results of the investigation.

According to Jiemian News, Mazda also admitted its mistakes. The investigation results showed that there were violations in five tests in two test categories. The violations found this time involved 150,878 vehicles produced and 149,313 vehicles sold, including the Angkesaila, Atez, MAZDA 6 and MX5.

According to the official Weibo of GAC Toyota, Toyota China issued a statement on the certification application on June 3, expressing sincere apologies for the concerns caused to customers by the irregular certification application of some Toyota vehicles in the Japanese market; after confirmation, the models sold by FAW Toyota, GAC Toyota and Lexus in the Chinese market have nothing to do with this incident. The relevant certification experiments were completed in accordance with Chinese laws and regulations and under the supervision and guidance of Chinese management departments, and there are no safety and quality issues; in the future, Toyota will continue to strictly abide by relevant laws and regulations, adhere to the principle of openness and transparency, and provide Chinese consumers with safe and secure products and services.

Japanese manufacturing has long been known for its high quality and reliability. However, the exposure of a series of fraud incidents in recent years has cast a shadow on this halo. These incidents not only damaged the reputation of Japan's manufacturing industry, but also raised public doubts about product quality and corporate integrity.
