On the evening of November 30, a large container ship "ONE APUS" owned by ONE lost as many as 1816 containers near Hawaii in the North Pacific.

The shipping company reported that the vessel "ONE APUS" was travelling from Yantian, China to Long BeachUSA. During the journey, the vessel shook violently under the influence of strong winds and strong waves, causing the container to fall off and fall into the sea. Subsequently, the captain temporarily changed the course of the ship to ensure the subsequent safety of the crew and the ship until the situation eased.

At present, USCG in Honolulu has received notice that the shipping company is coordinating with stakeholders to find a safe haven for the ship to assess the ship’s losses and determine the specific number of lost containers.

It is reported that shortly before the incident, the ship called Hong Kong, Shenzhen Yantian and other ports. After the accident, the ship changed its destination. The foreign trade freight forwarders who carried this ship mainly paid attention and paid attention to the further development of the ship in time. .

According to the large schedule data, the "ONE APUS" ship has a capacity of 14052TEU and serves the well-known FP2 route. The shipping companies that share the cabin include Hapag-Lloyd, Yang Ming and HMM.

Recently, foreign trade and freight forwarding companies that have loaded the ship with cargo should pay attention and communicate with the shipping company in time to confirm the impact of the accident.

On November 23, ONE issued an announcement stating that due to stricter customs inspections on imported refrigerated containers, the speed of pickup of imported refrigerated containers was slow, and Tianjin Xingang was facing a serious shortage of available refrigerated containers.

To this end, ONE will impose a congestion surcharge (CGD) of US$1,300 on each container to cover possible additional costs. This fee will be effective for all refrigerated goods arriving at Tianjin New Port from November 24.

ONE also emphasized that it may be necessary to adjust the original transportation plan of reefer containers to Xingang, which may cause the storage time of inbound reefer containers at the transshipment port to extend, or unload the reefer containers to other ports without prior notice.

According to the statement, in order to minimize the loss and inconvenience, as long as the operation is feasible, efforts should be made to arrange transportation from the alternate unloading port to the original destination according to the availability of the reefer plug.

In addition, ONE will encourage customers to consider changing the destination to other alternative ports, especially for time-sensitive goods, such as fresh refrigerated goods.

If it is required to change the port of destination (cash on delivery) and unload the inbound reefer vessel from Tianjin/Xingang to other ports, the CS and COD management fees can be exempted.
